Longtime local deejay and music personality Oedipus first made a name for himself as program director at former rock radio station WBCN, spinning records, talking politics and scoring interviews with big names like Beck, The Clash frontman Joe Strummer, and one of his all-time heroes, David Bowie.

Each Christmas Eve, Oedipus brings local airwaves a unique and highly-curated twist on holiday music, producing a live six-hour set of his personal favorites called "Christmas Eve with Oedipus."

Mayor Marty Walsh this year declared Dec. 24, 2018 to be "Christmas Eve with Oedipus Day" in the city of Boston in honor of the deejay's decades-long holiday tradition.

"Christmas Eve with Oedipus" will air again this year on 89.7 WGBH Radio.

A previous version of this story incorrectly spelled Oedipus' name. The change is reflected above. We regret the error.
