On Season 9, Episode 2 of Moveable Feast with Relish, host Alex Thomopoulos travels to Connecticut to meet three trailblazing female chefs: Chrissy Tracey, Ashley Flagg, and Renee Touponce, each with their own unique culinary palettes. She prepares this Connecticut Apple Cider Spritz to accompany their feast. It is a refreshing beverage that features a simple syrup made with maple syrup and rosemary.

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE ROSEMARY MAPLE SIMPLE SYRUP:

  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
  • 1 sprig thyme

FOR THE SPRITZ:

  • 16 ounces natural apple cider
  • 8 ounces chilled sparkling water
  • 3 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 4 ounces rosemary maple syrup
  • Apple slices and rosemary sprigs, for garnish

TO PREPARE

SYRUP
STEP ONE. In a small saucepan, bring all syrup ingredients to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.

SPRITZ
STEP TWO. In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients, stir and serve in large glasses filled with ice. Garnish with apple slices and sprigs of rosemary.
