This week on Open Studio, host Jared Bowen previews a new musical, chats with famed director John Waters about his new book and goes in-depth on an upcoming art event.

First up, Jared previews "A Beautiful Noise," a new Broadway-bound musical that looks at the legacy of Neil Diamond. In a conversation with Tony-award winning director Michael Mayer, Jared learns about the steps taken to create a play that honors the musician.

Next, Jared sits down with legendary director John Waters. They talk about the publication of his first novel, "Liarmouth: A Feel-Bad Romance." The book follows a cunning woman on the run who is ultimately forced to tell the truth.

Finally, Jared sits down with multimedia artist Daniel Callahan in anticipation of MasQ Ball 2022: Origin. The cross-cultural arts celebration includes Callahan’s art practice of "MassQing." It also features music and movement-based performances, participatory ceremonies and visual art installations from an illustrious cohort of Boston-based artists and ensembles.
