State officials say the new Massachusetts health-care website is running well, despite some minor glitches.

Since the Health Connector website opened for business on Saturday, about 5,000 people have gotten as far as choosing and paying for their 2015 health plans. This task was impossible last year.

Maydad Cohen, who was tapped by the governor to fix the state's health exchange, says he’s incredibly pleased with how the website performed over the weekend.

"The website is certainly experiencing some hiccups but they were not the type of massive and large scale issues in complaints that occurred last year at all,” he said.

Some commenters on Facebook said they experienced slow loading pages and long wait times over the phone.

Cohen says a reason for the long wait was that people were trying to fill out their entire applications over the phone.
