Fake news has become a big problem as conspiracy theories and other falsehoods pick up steam on social media.  This past weekend an armed man was accused of going into a Washington D.C area pizzeria which had been linked to a false story about Hillary Clinton’s campaign and a sex trafficking ring.  Although authorities have repeatedly denounced the story as false, Edgar Maddison Welch wanted to investigate the situation for himself.  Now, one of Donald Trump’s top picks for his administration is accused of retweeting outlandish fake stories.  Jim Braude (@jimbraude) leads a discussion on the proliferation and dangers of fake news.  He is joined by:   Dante Ramos (@danteramos), a Boston Globe columnist and Ideas section editor; Chris Dempsey (@cdempc), the former co-chair of No Boston Olympics; and Florence Graves (@florenceggraves), founder and director of the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University.
