It sounds cliché, but they found love on the campaign trail.

Lacey McGreevy from South Kingstown, Rhode Island and Chris Sheldon of New Bedford, Massachusetts are two New Englanders who got engaged this week at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

When you know you know. We've known almost from the beginning that we were going to get married. It seemed appropriate that we get hitched here at the (Republican National) convention.

The two young political junkies met three months ago while campaigning to become delegates for Nominee Donald Trump. McGreevy is an alternate Delegate, while Sheldon is a MA GOP Delegate.

“When you know you know. We’ve known almost from the beginning that we were going to get married. It seemed appropriate that we get hitched here at the convention," says Sheldon.

Sheldon says they met at one of his fiance's signature parties in Newport. From there after they attended a couple of Trump events together, and fell in love.

While at the convention McGreevy says, “I got wind of it, that I was getting proposed to and he was acting really weird, I didn’t know why he was acting so weird. So I ran out and met the Fed Ex truck."

Sheldon shipped the almost three carat ring from the jeweler via Fed Ex and McGreevy was so excited she opened the box. That’s when Sheldon got down on one knee and proposed.

“I get to marry the most amazing person I ever met,” says McGreevy.

Sheldon says, “the entire week couldn’t have gone any better. The people in Cleveland have been great, the convention is well run, and we’ve had a fabulous week together.”

McGreevy, who is National Committee  woman for the Young Republicans of RI says, “Trump has to be president, what are we going to get from Hillary? We need someone who is going to fix our country.”

Her fiancé says he sent the nominee a tweet about the engagement, but he’s yet to hear back from him.

They’ve already set the date-- they’ll be married this October 8, 2016-- exactly one month before the nation decides whether Donald Trump will be the next president of the country.
