Boston police are continuing to investigate the city’s sole Independence Day homicide. Police were called to the scene of a double-shooting on the corner of Holborn and Glenburne streets in Dorchester Saturday night, shortly before 11 p.m. Both victims were males in their 20s; one was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Police Commissioner William Evans praised BPD for its swift reaction, noting that 50 police officers were deployed to the scene within 5 minutes. Evans did not provide details about what may have caused the shooting, but did tell reporters that shots were seen fired from a car, which fled the scene.
