A parent’s job is to protect their children, but when parents fail, there’s a state-run safety net in place. The Department of Children and Families is responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of 36,000 children who are vulnerable to abuse and neglect. But as WGBH News reporter Gail Huff shows us, the DCF safety net has some big holes, and over the years, several children have fallen through.
