“The Focused Eye: Our Unique Views,” presented by Boston Camera Club on the Public Green at Fan Pier through November 7
What better place to take in art than the outdoors? The Boston Camera Club is exhibiting a 250-foot-long banner of photography on the Fan Pier Public Green. Titled “The Focused Eye: Our Unique Views,” the exhibition features 88 images by Boston Camera Club members. The photographs are lined up and connected by themes such as color, composition and subject matter to form a unique survey of local artists. An artists reception will take place July 18 from 1-3pm.
“I look at the images as musical tones,” says Thomas Hill, President of the Boston Camera Club, “and they were curated and sequenced into groupings that you could think of as chords or a melody across the whole banner.”

Take a colorful trip down the rabbit hole with “Alice in Rainbowland,” presented on-demand by Virtually OBERON. This twist on “Alice in Wonderland” sees Alice following the rainbows to a new and energizing world of song, dance and celebration of queer identity. The show is a debut production for Queer Bodies in Motion, a new LGBTQ+ focused dance ensemble that aims to celebrate the queer community through the arts.

How we see opera continues to evolve. “Desert In,” produced by Boston Lyric Opera, is a new operatic miniseries presented online via operabox.tv. Set in a mysterious motel in the American West, this tale of love and lost souls features music by eight composers, including Pulitzer Prize-winner Ellen Reid and playwright Kirsten Greenidge. James Darrah directs this supernatural love story, which releases two new episodes every week through June. Members can catch new episodes Thursdays at noon and non-members can watch on Fridays at noon.
