The Founder of The GroundTruth Project and WGBH News Analyst Charlie Sennott called President Trump’s performance at last week’s G20 Summit “pretty close to a disaster.”

Sennott told Boston Public Radio Monday that Trump further alienated the United States from the other 19 countries that attended the summit and is successfully implementing the nationalist agenda he campaigned on.

“The world is worried about this,” Sennott said. “What happens when the United States doesn’t lead in the world is not a pretty picture, and the rest of the world is really clear about that and they are worried.”

Sennott, who has attended multiple G20 Summits, called the conference a huge yawn where politicians in search of a good photo-op discuss issues only with broad appeal and consensus.

“This is not what happened this time," he said.

Instead of the typical congenial nature of past summits, many of the other attending nations pressed Trump on his decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement, among other issues.

“For a G20, this one had some edge to it and we are out there alone,” said Sennott.
