Crystal Kung Minkoff joined host Joel Gamoran on Season One of Homemade Live! to make a few versions of kid-friendly dumplings. Some are sweet and some are savory.
Makes 24 wontons
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE NUTELLA & BANANA VERSION:
1 Banana, diced
¼ cup Nutella
Powdered sugar, for dusting
FOR THE MOZZARELLA & SUNDRIED TOMATO VERSION:
¼ cup shredded whole milk mozzarella
8 sundried tomatoes
Sea salt, to finish
FOR THE CRAB & CREAM CHEESE VERSION:
¼ cup crab
¼ cup cream cheese
Sea salt, to finish
1 pkg wonton wrappers
2 tbsp of water
Oil for frying
TO PREPARE
STEP ONE. Lay one wonton wrapper diagonally.
STEP TWO.
- Nutella & Banana: Add just a half of a teaspoon of Nutella and a couple pieces of diced bananas to one half of the wrapper.
- Mozzarella & Sundried Tomato: Add sundried tomato and a sprinkle of mozzarella to one half of the wrapper.
- Crab & Cream cheese: Add 1 teaspoon of cream cheese and a couple pieces of lump crab to one half of the wrapper.
STEP THREE. Dip your finger tip into some water and wet the edges of the diamond. Fold the top of the diamond downward, and seal the wonton, pushing out all of the air out from the inside.
STEP FOUR. Heat frying oil to 350 degrees F. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, drain on paper towels.
STEP FIVE. Dust Nutella versions with powdered sugar or sprinkle the mozzarella and tomato or crab and cream cheese with a bit of sea salt.
