Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural features No Capture Today by Celeste Scott, who was inspired by a comment her young niece made when they visited the historic New Bedford Whaling Museum. Her niece asked, “Does the whale ever win and get away?”
Scott then created a wood-block drawing as a storybook illustration design depicting a smiling whale who will not be captured today. This is a white line wood-block print, hand-carved and hand-printed on BFK Rives paper.
