Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.

Today’s mural by Karen M. Krieger blends her mixed-media ink painting, When Celestial Worlds Collide, with a photograph of birds migrating over the Outer Cape.

“My art reminds us that subtle shifts in our atmosphere ripple through every part of our fragile system, revealing how closely our local cycles are intertwined with larger global and even cosmic forces,” Krieger says.

Boston-based artist Krieger has been painting and experimenting with a variety of media and techniques for over twenty years. She found her niche with Chinese ink after working with multidimensional collage and encaustic painting. She received her B.A. in philosophy and music from Brandeis University (1987) and later a certificate in graphic design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (1995). She works out of her studio at Gorse Mill Studios in Needham, MA.
