Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural, Positano Fruit Salad by Cassie Doyon, is a mosaic containing a wide variety of materials, including natural, foraged, and found items such as sea glass, bone, driftwood, and stone.
“My use of color is widely variable, from muted and earth toned to vivid hues,” Doyon says. “Where mosaic work tends to be structured and planned, I try to incorporate spontaneity and serendipity within my pieces.”
Doyon’s abstract style and form reflects her lifelong interest in tribal art and artifacts from around the world.
