This year, local movie critic Sarah G. Vincent is more excited for the Oscars than most. That’s because the movie she wanted to win at the beginning of last year is still the same one she thinks should win the following year, she said.
Vincent, who writes for sarahgvincentviews.com and several other movie review websites as well as being a regular contributor to GBH’s Rooted and Morning Edition, says that “Sinners” is “a wonderful movie about a young man who basically has this awakening where he has to reconcile his religious beliefs with his life and how he wants to live it.”
“I think that’s a storyline that a lot of people can relate to,” she said on Morning Edition Friday. “Plus visually it is amazing in the way that it transcends time, ethnicity, nationalities by celebrating them and not erasing them. And then also on top of it it’s a musical and they’re vampires.”
