It can be hard to cut through the vast television landscape to find the gems that are worth watching.

Bob Thompson, the founding director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, and a trustee professor of television and popular culture at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, joins Boston Public Radio every week to suggest his takes on the best and the worst that TV has to offer.

This week, Thompson chose a Fox News chyron mishap about "three Mexican countries" as his "worst of," HBO's new adaptation of Richard Wright's "Native Son" as his "best of," and the premiere of the final season of "Game of Thrones" on Sunday as his "what to watch."
