This week, Jared explores the world of 'Reusable Universes' at the Worcester Art Museum, reviews some of the best new theater in Boston, and gives his take on the remake of Stephen King's "IT."
"Gypsy," presented by Lyric Stage Company through October 8

Strap in for another Sondheim classic at the Lyric Stage Company. Loosely based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, "Gypsy" follows the story of two sisters and their all-encompassing showbiz mother. This musical theater mainstay features music from Jule Styne and Lyrics from Stephen Sondheim, with showstopping numbers like "Let Me Entertain You" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses," "You Gotta Have A Gimmick" and more.
Jared Says: "Watch as the showbiz monster Mama is deftly made brittle."
"Ideation," presented by New Repertory Theatre through September 24

Take a dive into the heart of corporate darkness. In New Repertory Theatre's "Ideation," a group of high-powered consultants receive a top secret assignment from a mysterious foreign client. As the ideation for their project evolves, the team is sent plunging down a morally and ethically ambiguous rabbit hole, one that threatens to unravel the entire team.
Jared Says: "An exceptional ensemble that draws us deep into absurdity, hilarity, and a heavy heart of darkness."
"Reusable Universes: Shih Chieh Huang," on view at Worcester Art Museum through November 12

See the wonder of everyday objects come to life. At the Worcester Art Museum, artist Shih Chieh Huang has installed a series of moving, pulsing, and breathing sculptures. With no formal background in science or engineering, Huang creates otherworldly works of art from ordinary pbjects like trash bags, box fans, and highlighter pens. And here, the art may just reach out and touch you.
Jared Says: "A meditative, serene space."
"IT," in theaters September 8

Based on the classic Stephen King novel of the same name, "IT" follows the story of a group of outcasts in Derry, Maine who have all encountered a monster in guise of Pennywise the Clown. Dubbing themselves "The Losers Club," the children set out to confront "It," forcing each of them to face their deepest, darkest fears.
Jared Says: "A shockingly good young ensemble cast that elevates the film so that it is so much more than a proper fright flick. They deliver depth, heart, and most importantly, connection."
