  • WGBH's Early Edition is a 10-minute radio segment that airs just before Morning Edition, Monday-Friday at 4:50am on 89.7 WGBH, and streams live on Facebook at @WGBHBoston, giving early birds and commuters the pertinent local news and information that they need to start their day.
  • WGBH News political reporter Adam Reilly headed to Iowa last week to cover Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren’s first trip since forming her exploratory presidential committee. Learn more about his coverage and watch his interview on MSNBC's "The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell" here.
  • What better way to celebrate the holidays and ring in the new year than with Julia Child, the legendary chef, famed hostess, and host of WGBH's The French Chef. Known for her last-minute dinner parties and making french cuisine accessible to all, she thrived in the hustle-and-bustle of the holiday season.
  • At 6pm on December 24, radio legend Oedipus will pour a single glass of wine, light a candle in the WGBH radio studios, and let the mood of the night determine his 6-hour playlist before handing off the airwaves to Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” at midnight on Christmas Day.His show, "Christmas Eve with Oedipus," is such a cherished local tradition that Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has proclaimed December 24, 2018, “Christmas Eve with Oedipus Day” in Boston.
  • This week, our favorite animated aardvark got a little love from none other than the Boston Red Sox. It all started when the Red Sox' creative team launched #TheGiftOfSox, an event where they solicited design requests from the public on Twitter (for example, "Please Photoshop my die-hard Yankees fan friend hugging Wally, the Red Sox mascot"). Some quick thinking from our marketing team had the Arthur team tweeting at the Red Sox with their own request for a Photoshopped picture of Arthur at bat. The Red Sox obliged—and a Twitter friendship between the two local legends was formed.
  • When WGBH Senior Producer Stacy Buchanan was looking for someone to photograph artists featured in the 617 Sessions category of the upcoming Boston Music Awards, she knew just who to ask: Javon Martin, our Digital Co-op, who, along with being a talented photographer, was born and raised in Boston’s music scene. In fact, as a lifelong musician and producer, he once opened for rap star Mac Miller at the Boston Urban Music Festival—in front of 50,000 people.
  • We sat down with Ben Folds, singer/songwriter and host of WGBH's "'Tis the Night with Ben folds & Friends," to hear more about the role public media has played in his life, how music brings people together, and what makes this year's holiday special so special. Watch the premiere of "'Tis the Night with Ben Folds & Friends" on Thursday, December 13 at 8pm on WGBH 2, WGBY and NH PBS.
  • Over the past two decades, Emily Rooney and her panel of knowledgeable guests on Beat the Press have covered the media's failures, triumphs and everything in between.
  • WGBH and the Library of Congress are five years into their stewardship of the American Archive Of Public Broadcasting, which was instituted in 2013 to coordinate a national effort to identify, preserve and make accessible the historical record of publicly funded radio and television broadcast in the U.S. We sat down with Ryn Marchese, Engagement and Use Manager for the AAPB here at WGBH, to learn more.
