The White House legal counsel sent an eight-page letter to House Democratic leaders Tuesday, denouncing the investigation into President Donald Trump as politically motivated and “unconstitutional.” The formal inquiry stems from a whistleblower report about Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president in July, but it has gained steam as more details have emerged, allegedly implicating his attorney Rudy Giuliani, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Energy Secretary Rick Perry. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress continue to stick by Trump’s side, with none of the majority members of the GOP-led Senate on record supporting the impeachment inquiry.
