House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reversed course on her long opposition to impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump on Tuesday, following a week of new allegations that he sought foreign help to hurt a political opponent. The change comes after allegations from an American intelligence whistleblower that Trump pressured the president of Ukraine to investigate foreign business ties of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, in July. Trump admitted that he spoke with the Ukranian leader, and that he had canceled funding for the country shortly before that call, but claimed the two factors were unrelated and that he only discussed “corruption” issues with the foreign leader.

To discuss what this all means for the Trump presidency and the American political landscape, Jim Braude was joined by Lylah Alphonse of U.S. News & World Report and Sydney Asbury, former campaign manager and deputy chief of staff for former Gov. Deval Patrick, now principal of DNM Solutions.
