Criticism from Republican leaders of President Donald Trump’stweets about four congresswomentrickled in on Monday and Tuesday, but many still avoided describing them as racist, continuing a pattern of Republican elected officials deferring to Trump as he redefines the Republican party in his image. Meanwhile, Trump has doubled down on his hardline immigration agenda, introducing a new rule Monday that would drastically alter the handling of asylum cases of people from Central America.
