Many are still reeling from the murder of 10 African Americans gunned down in a predominately Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York, this month. Authorities say it was a racially motivated hate crime, which has stirred a national conversation about race and racism, much like the response after the death of George Floyd.

The Buffalo attack came two years after George Floyd was murdered by Derek Chauvin on the streets of Minneapolis, Minnesota. His shocking death reverberated around the world.

He is the founder of Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research and a best-selling author. Last year he was also named to the 2021 class of MacArthur “Genius Fellows."
