Georgia’s New ‘Jim Crow’ Law & GOP Voter Suppression Efforts Nationwide
After Trump and his political allies tried to overturn the last election based on lies about voter fraud, Republicans across the country are now trying new voter restriction measures that would disproportionately impact Black voters and other voters of color. The nation got a preview of such suppression efforts this month with Georgia’s new voting law. To discuss, Jim Braude was joined by two heads of the organizations that have filed suit against that new Georgia law: LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, and Damon Hewitt, the executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
