The pandemic has changed all aspects of how we live — the way we work, the way we learn, and, studies are showing, the way we drink. We’ve traded in meeting rooms for Zoom screens, and we have swapped bar hopping for virtual happy hours.

At a time when stress and anxiety are at all-time highs, it can feel good to reconnect with a friend virtually over a drink. But what might have been social drinking early on in the pandemic has increasingly become something else, leading to an uptick in binge drinking, especially among women.
