About 25,000 households briefly lost power in Boston around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

By 3:20 p.m., Boston’s chief of emergency preparedness, Adrian Jordan, says the fix was made.

“Transformers have been fixed and everything’s back online,” he told GBH News. “They were doing some repairs. They had a transformer issue.”

Eversource’s outage map showed almost all households back online by 4 p.m. The utility company says it’s continuing to investigate the outage’s cause.

“Our crews have restored power to our approximately 25,000 customers affected by a power outage that occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. at one of our substations in Andrews Square, which serves the areas of South Boston and the South End,” Kaitlyn Woods, an Eversource spokesperson, wrote in an email to GBH News.
