It's been almost 18 months since Snowmageddon. The highlights included back-breaking, round the clock shoveling, massive snowbanks, and of course, the T service, which grounded to a halt. So, 18 months later, are things on the T better than they were? Acting MBTA General Manager Brian Shortsleeve joined Jim on Monday night to discuss.

Shortsleeve said that the T has a ton of challenges, and that he feels the agony of the riders, as he himself rides the commuter rail every day. He said that there are a lot of people working hard to fix the problems facing the MBTA. He laid out the challenges, including the service side of the T, and the financial issues. "We're bringing a big culture of accountability," he said. Their goal is to balance the budget, which has not been done in ten years, and for service to improve. Shortsleeve hopes that they can increase the speed in which they repair the infrastructure, and that there is a rapid investment in core infrastructure.
