On Monday night, several Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives walked out in protest when Speaker Paul Ryan called for a moment of silence in honor of the victims of the terrorist shooting in Orlando. Among them were Massachusetts representatives Seth Moulton and Katherine Clark. They say that tributes like the ones called for by Ryan are empty gestures when Republicans in Congress refuse to bring gun control legislation up for a vote. Congresswoman Clark discussed her decision to walk out with WGBH All Things Considered host Barbara Howard.
