Five-term Boston Mayor Tom Menino’s new memoir, "Mayor for a New America," is out. Co-written with Jack Beatty, it's a jog through Boston’s recent history, focusing on Menino's accomplishments and frustrations during a period of tremendous growth.
Emily Rooney sat down with Menino last year just as he wrapping up the book and preparing to leave office. As in the book, the mayor was reflective about his unlikely career, crediting his mother for his appreciation of the struggles of immigrants.
