A Massachusetts doctor has returned home after being successfully treated for Ebola he contracted while working in Africa.
Dr. Rick Sacra arrived in Worcester on a charter flight around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. He walked off the plane with his wife Debbie, and they drove to their home in Holden. They didn't speak publicly but scheduled a news conference Friday at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, where he teaches family medicine and community health.
Sacra was released earlier Thursday from a Nebraska hospital where he's been treated in an isolation unit for the past several weeks. He said in Omaha he feels great, but expects it will take a while to fully recover.
Sacra spent much of the last two decades in Liberia, working for a missionary group. He also works at Family Health Center of Worcester.
