Poet Maya Angelou's  life story was improbable, and she met it with force, conviction and poise. Angelou died Wednesday morning at her North Carolina home. A performer, poet and activist, Angelou was born into abject poverty. Rather than wallow, she became one of the century's most dominating literary forces.
