The MBTA now says it is ready to begin restoring public transportation service on a limited basis.
Officials say subway service will resume at 2 p.m. Sunday on the Orange and Red lines. The Green Line will also resume from Kenmore Station to Lechmere and the Blue Line from Government Center to Orient Heights.
Five bus lines will also run on a limited basis beginning Sunday afternoon.
The T had originally said it was not expecting to restore service until Monday as workers cleaned up from the blizzard.
MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott says that although the system still faces challenges from the heavy snow, officials hope to be fully operational by the morning rush hour on Monday.
