Homeland security expert Juliette Kayyem joined Boston Public Radio on Wednesday to speak about the United States' lack of preparedness for the coronavirus.
"We are gearing up for major disruptions in pockets of the United States, but I do not believe the whole thing shuts down," she said. "We're not prepared for it, we are likely in for major disruptions."
She said people and families should come up with basic plans in case of an outbreak near them.
"Communicate with kids, have plans, I recommend three days of provisions, this is basic preparedness."
Kayyem is an analyst for CNN, former assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security and faculty chair of the homeland security program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
