Just two years ago, the number of people forcibly displaced from their homes worldwide reached a record total of 68.5 billion, fueled in particular by conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar, and Syria. In the midst of such crises, organizations like Doctors Without Borders step in to not only provide critical medical aid, but also spread awareness about the human cost of war and what drives many people to seek asylum or refugee status. The organization is in Boston this week with a speaker series, "A Voice From The Field."

Jim Braude was joined by veteran medical coordinator for Doctors Without Borders, Donna Canali.
