After a rocky G7 summit with some of Americas strongest allies, President Donald Trump is getting ready to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump and dictator Kim Jong Un are in Singapore and are set to meet one-on-one with only translators. The highly anticipated summit comes after Trump abruptly pulled his support from a joint statement negotiated between seven nations and chastised Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for making “false statements.”

Adam Reilly, in for Jim Braude, was joined by Katharine Moon, a political science professor at Wellesley College and non-resident senior fellow at Brookings Institute Center for East Asia policy, and Jim Walsh, a senior research associate at MIT’s Security Studies program, who has been involved in past nuclear discussion in Iran and North Korea, to help break down the challenges Trump is facing on the world stage.
