Inflation in the United States has climbed torecord levels as prices on everything from groceries to housing are skyrocketing. Despite the tough economic conditions, the job market is better than ever, experts told Jim Braude on Greater Boston Monday.

"This is still the best job market, really of my lifetime," said Dan Primack, business editor at Axios. He noted the large number of jobs available, and that companies are willing to make better offers for qualified employees.

Michelle Singletary, personal finance columnist for the Washington Post, added that companies have been raising their minimum wage and they are often willing to negotiate higher raises.

"If you've got some skills and experience, then you are in the driver's seat for a lot of the jobs that you might be looking for," Singletary said.

Although inflation hurts consumers at the grocery store and gas pump, Singletary argued that it's big ticket items, like housing and buying a car, that prevent people from thriving financially in uncertain economic times.

"When things get tight and people can't make do, then bad decisions kind of come into play becaue you're so overwhelmed," Singletary said.
