Music venues may be closed throughout the city of Boston, but the crew at the Above The Basement podcast are doing what they can to connect local artists to their audiences.
For the second week in a row, Above the Basement will power the #TogetherAtHome Sessions, a collection of live musical performances throughout the weekend. The sessions will stream live through the podcast's Facebook page, and will begin tonight at 6pm with three acts, including a set by singer/songwriter Ryan Montbleau. WGBH recorded Montbleau live at Paradise Rock Club in 2015.
On Saturday night, NPR Slingshot and WGBH Bands You Should Know artist Anjimile will highlight a four-act set beginning at 6 pm. Last weekend's debut of the showcase featured more than 20 acts including Will Dailey, Carissa Johnson, Adam Ezra, Dana Colley and Jerome Duepree of Morphine, and GHOST GRL. While the first event was more of a virtual festival, the Above the Basement crew will be streaming regularly in a fashion that they refer to as a "virtual venue."
