The high school dropout problem is big: 1.2 million students drop out of high school every year, and only 70 percent of freshmen will graduate. Dropping out results in tremendous costs for the person and for society. WGBH News is looking at the experiences of these youth, and youth at risk of dropping out, from several angles.
First, "Left Behind, Dropping Out," a documentary by Andrea Seabrook, airs at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 on 89.7.
The following day, WGBH News' Ibby Caputo visits Brockton, Mass., to see how individual teens are trying to keep their lives on track.
And Tuesday, Sept. 25, Frontline airs "Dropout Nation," going inside a Houston high school that used to be known as a "dropout factory." Watch a preview:
