BOSTON (December 20, 2022) GBH News will continue a long tradition of broadcasting its “Ask the Governor” and “Ask the AG” segments with commitments from Massachusetts Governor-elect Maura Healey and Attorney General-elect Andrea Campbell to appear monthly on Boston Public Radio with co-hosts Jim Braude and Margery Eagan.

The commitment from Gov.-elect Healey was made during a special “Ask the Governor-Elect” segment that aired live from the GBH Studio at the Boston Public Library. Gov.-elect Healey will be the third consecutive governor of Massachusetts to participate in these segments and the first to appear live at the GBH Studio at the Boston Public Library, where everyday citizens can ask her questions in person. Healey appeared regularly in “Ask the Attorney General” segments after beginning as the Massachusetts Attorney General in 2015. Attorney General-elect Andrea Campbell also confirmed with GBH News that she will carry on this democratic tradition with monthly “Ask the AG” segments broadcasting from the GBH Studio at the Boston Public Library.

"’Ask the Governor’ and ‘Ask the AG’ put our audience in a direct democratic dialogue with influential decision-makers," said Lee Hill, executive editor of GBH News. "These segments represent a core mission of our newsroom: to hold elected officials accountable to the people they represent and to promote civic competence across our region. "

Listeners can hear "Ask the Governor" and "Ask the AG" on 89.7 FM in Greater Boston or at www.gbhnews.org from anywhere and are welcome to call or text 877-301-8970, email bpr@wgbh.org or tweet @bospublicradio to be part of the conversation. In addition, these broadcasts frequently stream live on the GBH News YouTube Channel.

"Ask the Governor" first aired on GBH in 2013, when former Governor Deval Patrick appeared on Boston Public Radio with Jim Braude and Margery Eagan. After that, Governor Baker continued the tradition of regular appearances until his final "Ask the Governor" segment earlier this month.

In addition to "Ask the Governor" and "Ask the AG" GBH News listeners have regularly engaged with political decision-makers during "Ask the Mayor," "Ask the Commissioner," "Ask the Senator," "Ask the District Attorney," "Ask the Superintendent" and related segments.
