PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC Podcast Launches
MOLLY OF DENALI Award-Winning Podcast Returns for Season 2
BOSTON, September 16, 2020 - Boston public media producer GBH announced the October 28 launch of a new podcast from PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC, the popular PBS KIDS series focused on creativity, imagination and the arts. It follows Season 2 of the top-rated, award-winning MOLLY OF DENALI podcast that begins September 30th.
“These new podcasts for families provide children with more ways to engage with the characters they feel connected to, and deepens their experience of the valuable curriculum that informs the stories,” said Terry Fitzpatrick, VP of GBH Kids and Education. “We’re delighted to partner with PRX and PBS KIDS to share this compelling content.”
The PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC podcast series, produced by GBH in partnership with Rococo Punch and PRX Media, features Pinkalicious and her little brother Peter as they sing along to their favorite songs from the hit PBS KIDS show, PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC. This inspiring podcast series hosted by the creative sibling duo includes 10 interactive episodes, each featuring songs from the TV series. Each episode will take listeners on “pinkatastic” adventures, encouraging kids to dance, sing, make believe, and more. An Activity Series Guide listeners can sign up for will be a companion resource, providing kids, parents and caregivers with activities, reading list recommendations, and more, based on each episode’s theme.
The ten-part podcast is a companion to the GBH hit animated series produced for PBS KIDS, PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC, the animated pre-school series that inspires children to explore the arts and express themselves creatively. Based on the best-selling picture books by Victoria Kann, the series brings music, dance, theatre and visual arts to life through the adventures of Pinkalicious, her brother Peter, and their many friends. Together, they find creative opportunities and imaginative solutions to problems, encouraging young viewers to do the same.
“Now more than ever, kids and families appreciate the value of great storytelling,” said Dorothea Gillim, GBH Executive Producer of PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC and MOLLY OF DENALI. “With these new podcasts, they can connect to their favorite characters through the richly immersive world of audio narrative.”
MOLLY OF DENALI is the Peabody® Award-winning animated PBS KIDS series from GBH that follows the adventures of curious and resourceful 10-year-old Molly Mabray, an Alaska Native girl who lives in the fictional village of Qyah, Alaska. Molly helps her Mom and Dad run the Denali Trading Post - a general store, bunkhouse, and transport hub - where she assists tourists, trekkers and scientists, and sometimes rides along in Mom's bush plane or makes deliveries via dog sled. It is the first nationally distributed children’s series to feature a Native American lead character . MOLLY OF DENALI is developed with a group of Alaska Native collaborators. Over 60 Alaska Natives are involved in all aspects of the production, both on screen and behind the scenes, including voice talent, writers, musicians and producers. The series is grounded in a pioneering curriculum focused on informational text, a foundational aspect of literacy education.
The second season of the MOLLY OF DENALI Podcast, produced by GBH in partnership with PRX and Gen-Z Media, takes listeners on a brand-new adventure as she and Trini take a train from Denali to Anchorage, Alaska. But this is no ordinary train – it’s the MYSTERY TRAIN! When a jewel necklace goes missing, it’s up to Detective Mabray and her assistant Dr. Mumford to solve the case! Follow along as Molly and Trini search for clues with some unexpected guests, decipher some strange bird calls, and even get stuck in a spooky town, all while riding the mystery train! Parents can download listening questions to further explore the story and characters.
The first two episodes of the PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC Podcast will be released on October 28, with a new episode released every week.
