BOSTON (May 15, 2018) – WGBH is collaborating with “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” author Jeff Kinney for a new event series, High School Quiz Show: Extra Credit. Twelve Massachusetts high school academic teams will compete in a live tournament event hosted by Kinney at his Plainville, MA bookstore, An Unlikely Story.

“I’ve been a fan of High School Quiz Show for years, and I’m excited to step into the role of host for this very special event,” said Jeff Kinney. “I can’t wait to see the energy and academic skills these incredible Massachusetts students will bring to Plainville and hope that each team’s community will join us to play along and support their local students!”

Four teams will compete each night between Tuesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 24 starting at 6:30pm. Competitors will answer questions in topics including science, math, literature, history and current events. The team with the most points at the end of each competition will be named that night’s champion. The format and style of questions is based on WGBH’s televised academic competition, High School Quiz Show, a single-elimination tournament with, toss-up, head-to-head, category and lightning rounds.

Friends, family and the public are invited to attend the free High School Quiz Show: Extra Credit events, but RSVP is required. Sign up for each day at the links below:
