Today’s mural, To Be Continued by Amanda Baldi, is an acrylic painting that explores identity as an ongoing process rather than a fixed state. Through abstraction, Baldi use color, gesture, and layered forms to visualize an internal dialogue between different facets of herself. The title reflects the understanding that selfhood is never complete, but continually shaped by experience, memory, and change.
“As someone with synesthesia, I experience sensory relationships that often blur conventional boundaries between emotion, color, and perception,” Baldi says. “While this work is not a direct translation of those experiences, they inform my intuitive approach to composition and color, allowing feeling to guide the painting as much as conscious decision-making.”
Baldi has a background in anthropology and an interest in neuroaesthetics, the study of how art and the brain intersect. She works primarily with watercolor and ceramics.
