Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural, Please Stand Still by TJ Bergeron, focuses on Northeastern woods and wetlands. His artwork targets forgotten charred firewood being reclaimed by the terrain.
While the imagery is the foremost quality of his art, the life of the wood remains present within the warping panels he works with. The thin surfaces ensure that each painting maintains a life of its own, providing a less controllable and less predictable outcome than stretched canvas.
Bergeron is a drawing and painting teacher at Walpole High School and graduated from Boston University with a B.F.A. in Painting and a M.F.A. in Art education.
