Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural is by Julie Harris Kramer. As a visual artist, Julie is always looking for the treasures that lie beyond words. In her current work, those treasures reveal themselves as emotion and truth through quiet, subtle things such as history embedded in the lines of skin, a gentle lift in an eyebrow, or depth in the eyes.
“It is an incredibly intimate experience to be able to look so closely at a person and such an honor to offer my own rendering of who they might be through portraiture,” she says.
