Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural, Portrait of an Artist (Temporarily Trapped) by Christina Yee, began as a mistake. Yee had ordered custom matboards, but they arrived with tiny openings. She felt frustrated because it did not fit her vision. Then, on a Zoom call, Yee’s friend suggested she draw this scenario.
“This drawing became a reminder to myself that creative blocks and mistakes aren’t always dead ends,” Yee says. “It just means it can lead you to something new.”
