Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural, Abundance by Denise Theodores, is an oil painting inspired by a long walk through the fields at a local flower farm. In this painting, Theodores captures a temporary moment in time.
The concept of impermanence is often present in her work. “I am drawn to the changes in the seasons and the light that shifts throughout each day,” Theodores says. “These transitions in the environment are reminders of the constantly changing nature of life, and they echo the challenge of living fully in each moment.”
Theodores holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University, where she focused on printmaking and photography. After college, she pursued a career as a photo editor, working with several publishing companies. She currently works with oil paint and pastels, and enjoys painting landscapes both en plein air and in the studio. She is a member of Concord Center for the Visual Arts, Cape Cod Art Center, and Central Massachusetts Pastel Society.
