Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.

Today’s mural, Swans in Emerald by Adèle Patnaude, approaches nature from a place of feeling rather than documentation. Two swans float closely together across green-blue water, their mirrored shapes suggesting balance, devotion, and ease. The surrounding emerald tones hint at dense foliage, creating a feeling of privacy, as though the moment is unfolding unseen. The swans are rendered with soft, layered brushstrokes, emerging naturally from the water rather than standing apart from it.

Their reflections are slightly blurred, reinforcing the dreamlike quality of the scene and softening the boundary between surface and depth. Small touches of warm color in the lily pads add gentle contrast without disrupting the overall calm. Rather than capturing a specific place or moment, Swans in Emerald evokes a feeling of quiet harmony and emotional stillness within the natural world.
