Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural features a tomato painting by Donna Calleja. Through observing light and shadow, her inspiration comes from viewing plants in her home garden or walking in her neighborhood. She composes natural forms together for their shape, color, and texture from direct observation and her imagination.
“I want to interpret the beauty of light on natural forms with a goal to provide my viewers with a moment of quiet reflection,” Calleja says.
Calleja teaches painting workshops for adults. Her work is included in public and private collections including the Worcester Art Museum, Boston Public Library, and Cambridge Savings Bank.
