Today’s mural, Tender is the Night - Sunflower by Lidia Mikhaylova, examines the balance between darkness and radiance. Painted on silk with golden highlights, the sunflower rises boldly against a deep indigo sky.
“The sunflower stands as a quiet testament to the love that persists, shines, and endures, even when the world is draped in darkness,” Mikhaylova says.
Mikhaylova grew up in Siberia and worked as a corporate lawyer in Moscow, Russia. She fell in love with painting in Riga, Latvia, and then immigrated to the U.S. in 2019.
