Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural features artwork by Julia Minichello of lilac bushes on her street in Brighton. Each spring, her roommate and friend Tara Lynch would collect the lilacs and bring them into their apartment, filling every room with fragrance and fun.
“Back in September 2024, Tara passed away unexpectedly,” Minichello says. “I made this piece to honor her memory and capture her in that moment so that I can have it every spring going forward.”
