Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.

Today’s mural features artwork by Bridey McGlynn. She works in collaboration with her body to create open abstract imagery. Referencing the contours and marks of her form, she repeatedly layers drawings of herself, building and destroying the image into something unrecognizable.

“In working with my body, my practice unexpectedly became an investigation of the materials I was using to create my subject as much as the subject itself,” McGlynn says. “The materiality of paint, charcoal, and ink create endless possibilities to build my own visual language.”
